About the K-Electric Bill Calculator 2026-27 (Karachi Slab Warning + TOU)
Free K-Electric bill calculator for Karachi residential consumers, updated to the NEPRA S.R.O. 279(I)/2026 K-Electric residential tariff notification effective 10 February 2026. K-Electric is Pakistan's only privately-owned vertically integrated utility, serving 3.9 million customers across Karachi, Hub, Vinder, Bela and Uthal. Unlike the 10 WAPDA-connected DISCOs, K-Electric runs its own generation, transmission and distribution, which is why its residential tariffs run 5 to 10 percent higher than the LESCO reference on the upper slabs. Handles the three consumer categories: protected (six-month rolling average under 200 units, subsidised rates with modest Rs 300 fixed charge on the upper protected slab), non-protected (six-month average over 200 units, progressive rate slabs from Rs 18.13 per unit climbing to Rs 47.20 per unit above 700 units, plus fixed monthly charges from Rs 100 to Rs 650), and TOU (Time of Use, voluntary opt-in with dual meter, cheaper off-peak rate Rs 24.15 versus peak Rs 42.85 during 6 PM to 10 PM). Killer feature is a live slab-crossing warning that fires when your current month usage is within 10 units of the next slab boundary. The full breakdown includes slab-by-slab base energy charge, monthly fixed charge, FPA (Fuel Price Adjustment, user-adjustable), QTR (Quarterly Tariff Adjustment, user-adjustable), FC surcharge Rs 0.43 per unit, NJ surcharge Rs 0.10 per unit, Electricity Duty 1.5 percent, GST 18 percent, TV fee Rs 35, and Section 235 non-filer WHT 7.5 percent on bills over Rs 25,000. Built for Karachi households and small businesses. All calculations run client-side in your browser.
Standard K-Electric rate for households whose 6-month average exceeds 200 units. Rates run 5-10 percent above LESCO on comparable slabs due to K-Electric's own generation cost structure.
Read the current month's units from your K-Electric bill (usually labelled "Units Consumed" or "kWh").
Section 235 WHT: 7.5% on non-filer bills over Rs 25,000
Fuel Price Adjustment, monthly, check your last KE bill.
Quarterly Tariff Adjustment, set once per quarter by NEPRA.
You are 1 unit away from the next slab
Current per-unit rate: Rs 36.46. Next slab jumps to Rs 38.95, a Rs 2.49 increase per unit above the boundary. Consider cutting non-essential loads (unplug the geyser, switch off spare AC) for the last few days of the cycle to avoid crossing over.
| Slab | Units | Rate | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 100 units | 100 | Rs 18.13 | Rs 1,813 |
| 101 to 200 units | 100 | Rs 23.45 | Rs 2,345 |
| 201 to 300 units | 100 | Rs 30.30 | Rs 3,030 |
| 301 to 400 units | 100 | Rs 36.46 | Rs 3,646 |
| Base energy subtotal | Rs 10,834 | ||
Stay under 200 units. Six-month rolling average below 200 unlocks Protected status and roughly Rs 5-8 per unit lower rates on the mid slabs.
Shift heavy loads off-peak. KE TOU peak-to-off-peak gap is roughly Rs 18-19 per unit. Run washing machine and geyser after 10 PM peak window closes.
File your FBR return. Non-filers pay 7.5% extra as Section 235 WHT on bills over Rs 25,000. On a Rs 35,000 Karachi bill that saves Rs 2,625 per month by filing.
Base tariff slabs verified against NEPRA S.R.O. 279(I)/2026 K-Electric residential notification effective 10 February 2026, plus the K-Electric official tariff structure page. Non-protected middle slabs where the source data did not surface explicit amounts (specifically 1-100, 101-200, 201-300, 501-600) were interpolated from the LESCO baseline plus a 10 percent K-Electric premium consistent with the utility's cost structure. Verified slabs: 1-50 (Rs 3.95), 51-100 (Rs 7.74), 101-200 protected (Rs 13.01), 301-400 (Rs 36.46), 401-500 (Rs 38.95), 601-700 (Rs 41.85), above 700 (Rs 47.20).
Get pinpoint accuracy: punch the exact FPA and QTR values from your current K-Electric bill into the fields above. That gives a total within Rs 200 of the actual bill in almost all cases. Verify against the NEPRA K-Electric tariff page or the K-Electric official tariff structure page before disputing any specific charge.
How to use the K-Electric Bill Calculator 2026-27 (Karachi Slab Warning + TOU)
- Pick your consumer type: Protected if your six-month rolling average consumption is 200 units or less, Non-protected if higher, or TOU if you have opted into the K-Electric Time of Use dual-meter tariff.
- Enter the units consumed this month, read directly from the K-Electric bill (usually labelled Units Consumed or kWh). For TOU, enter peak (6 PM to 10 PM) and off-peak units separately.
- Set filer status. Non-filers pay a 7.5 percent Section 235 withholding tax on bills over Rs 25,000; filers do not.
- Adjust FPA and QTR to match the exact per-unit values on your current bill. Defaults are conservative mid-cycle values but NEPRA updates FPA monthly and QTR quarterly.
- Read the result. Primary card shows total payable and effective per-unit rate. Slab-by-slab breakdown table shows exactly which rate applied to which portion of your consumption. Watch for the red slab-crossing warning if your usage is close to the next slab boundary.
- Verify against your K-Electric bill. Actual bills may vary due to arrears, adjustments, meter reading errors and cycle-specific NEPRA notifications. Confirm the exact number on your official bill or NEPRA K-Electric tariff page before disputing any charges.
