Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MDCAT 2026 aggregate formula?

MBBS merit under PMDC uses a 10 / 40 / 50 split: 10 percent from Matriculation (out of 1100), 40 percent from Intermediate FSc Pre-Medical (out of 1100), and 50 percent from your MDCAT score (out of 180). Formula: (Matric percent x 10 + Inter percent x 40 + MDCAT percent x 50) divided by 100. Our MDCAT Aggregate Calculator applies this exact formula and shows your aggregate against typical closing merits for public and private medical colleges.

When is the MDCAT 2026 exam date?

MDCAT 2026 is on Sunday, 16 August 2026 at 10 AM PST across Pakistan. The test has 180 multiple choice questions with no negative marking. Registration through PMDC closed on 13 July 2026 for the regular fee, with a late-fee window until 18 July 2026. Aggregate is calculated as 10 percent Matric plus 40 percent Inter plus 50 percent MDCAT score.

How is the NMDCAT NUMS aggregate different from MDCAT?

NUMS conducts a separate entry test called NMDCAT for army medical colleges (Army Medical College AMC, Wah Medical College WMC, CMH Lahore Medical College, CMH Multan and other CMH affiliated colleges). NMDCAT 2026 is expected around 23 August 2026, one week after national MDCAT. Aggregate formula is the same 10 / 40 / 50 split but with the NUMS test score in place of the national MDCAT score. Some candidates take both tests to maximise their admission options; our NUMS Aggregate Calculator handles the NUMS-specific merit math.

What NUST aggregate do I need for engineering admission?

NUST engineering admission uses a weighted formula: 75 percent from your NUST NET score plus 25 percent from academic FSc marks (typically the top 2 subjects from Pre-Engineering). Historical closing merits (subject to yearly variation): NUST BEE Electrical around 175-185 aggregate, Mechanical around 170-180, Computer Science around 175-190, Civil around 160-170. Our NUST Aggregate Calculator applies the weightings and shows your position against recent closing merits.

What is the difference between ECAT, MDCAT and NUST NET?

Three separate entry tests for three different admission pools. ECAT (Engineering College Admission Test) is conducted by UET Lahore for engineering programs at UET Lahore, UET Taxila, UET Peshawar and their affiliated colleges. MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) is the national test conducted by PMDC for MBBS and BDS admissions across most public and private medical colleges. NUST NET is NUST university's own entrance test for its engineering, computer science and business programs. Each has its own aggregate formula, exam pattern and calendar.

How do I calculate my Matric or Inter percentage in Pakistan?

Pakistani Matriculation and Intermediate boards use 1100 total marks each (Class 9 and 10 combined for Matric, Class 11 and 12 for Inter). Formula: (obtained marks divided by 1100) multiplied by 100 equals percentage. Examples: 850 out of 1100 equals 77.27 percent (first division), 770 out of 1100 equals 70.00 percent (first division threshold), 605 out of 1100 equals 55.00 percent (second division). Grading scale: A+ at or above 80, A at or above 70, B at or above 60, C at or above 50. Our Matric and Inter Aggregate Calculator handles both boards and shows the aggregate needed for common merit targets.

Which Pakistani universities use what admission tests?

Rough mapping: Medical colleges (Public MBBS and BDS, private medical colleges) use MDCAT (national) plus optional NMDCAT (NUMS for army medical colleges). NUST university uses its own NUST NET. UET Lahore, Taxila, Peshawar and affiliated engineering colleges use ECAT. FAST NUCES uses FAST NU admission test. LUMS uses LCAT plus SAT. IBA Karachi uses IBA aptitude test. PIEAS uses PIEAS entry test. GIKI uses SAT or its own admissions test. Punjab University, University of Karachi and most public universities use board Inter merit directly with no separate test for undergraduate arts and commerce programs.

Is a HEC equivalence certificate needed to apply to Pakistani universities?

Yes if your qualification is from outside Pakistan. HEC equivalence certificate is required by Pakistani universities and PMDC for candidates who did their Intermediate equivalent from Cambridge (A-Levels), IB (International Baccalaureate), American Diploma or any other foreign board. HEC converts your foreign grades to Pakistani percentage using published conversion tables. Our HEC Equivalence Calculator applies these tables and gives you an estimated Pakistani equivalent percentage. Actual certification is issued by HEC after formal application at hec.gov.pk.

Aggregate formulas and admission calendar are as verified against the current PMDC (MDCAT 2026), NUMS (NMDCAT 2026), UET Lahore (ECAT) and NUST (NET) admission notifications around July 2026. Universities and admission bodies do occasionally revise weighting rules and calendars, so always confirm the current formula on the respective official portal before finalising college choices. Our calculators are estimator utilities designed for planning; final merit lists are always published by the admission body based on the exact formula active that year.
